CTEK xs3600 dead faulty detailed repair with schematics explanation and test

A YouTuber sent this faulty unit and another viewer sent me the schematics so we have a look at the schematic in detail and then fault find and repair.
Cire Ekratz : I learned so much from this 1 video, incredible. When I first saw the whole circuit, I paused and tried to explain it to myself. I didn't come far. Now i think i understand it pretty well. Many thanks for this.
Please do more videos of this format, if you can. This level is quite alright for me to learn and the soldering at the end is pleasing to watch.
Mark Jones : I really enjoyed watching you working on this Ctek . Not sure whether the power supply is a clever design or just a cheap design...Seems better that the MXS 5.0 though!
Mark Dauncey : Great work - a comprehensive blow up in the first place with a painstaking repair.
FWIW the spreader button was in place originally.
Looking forward to seeing your all singing-dancing charger in due course.
Howard Thomas : Very interesting and educational about circuit design and failure; especially as I own the same model of charger that is analysed which has just failed. So I may dust off my soldering iron. Have you done similar exercises on electric fence exciters?
Cockney Brian : I found that very educational love detailed explanations of what’s what. Thank you Mr Smoke.

CTEK Multi XS 3600 battery charger teardown & repair

In this video, I reveal the sheer horror that resides inside one of these CTEK chargers, and I track down and remedy an issue that causes the charger to be unresponsive to the mode switch. When done, it does a good job of charging batteries at 4 or 0,65 A, but I'm not sure if one should rely too heavily on one of these.

Ricardo Perez : Thank you, great video! Helped alot I just bought one of these maintainers plugged it in for winter and wouldn't switch modes. Decided to see if anyone else had this problem and a solution before I threw it away. After watching your video I was able to fix it in 5 mins and it works great all thanks to your video. Thank you again.
Gungnir Spear : I bet the cables you could pull out (mains) from its encloser after removing the bottom lid is HELD in place by the bottom lid :D Have seen that design lots before.

Just had a quick view again of the video and you can see what is to hold the cables in place on the bottom lid as you put it down. :D
BasementBen : Even more proof that "You don't get what you pay for" LOL good diagnostic video!
Dinko Djakovic : Thank you for this video, it helped me to fix my charger. I couldn't find the value of that Zener diode, as my diode fell apart..
RdVortex : Interesting, the one found on this video looks quite different: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1NRN2u8d5E
Almost as if yours was repaired/modified by someone really poorly. Or maybe the build quality has improved, who knows. Almost tempted to open mine to see what it looks like inside...

HOW TO Install Corsair RGB Fans with Lighting Node Core (10+ Fans)

A quick video on how I wired up 10 corsair QL120 fans in my Lian Li O11 XL using the lighting node core and commander pro. Parts listed in the description below

Checkout my video on how to wire it up without a commander pro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECDyNCZFEo0\u0026t

In this video I powered 2 of the fans up using the Corsair AIO cpu cooler. You can also use the cooler for 2 RGB slots for those fans. So if you have a setup with 8 fans total, you can get away with only using 1 lighting node core (LNC). 6 fans will go to the LNC for RGB and 2 fans will go to the AIO cpu cooler. Then 6 fans will go to the commander pro for power and the other 2 will go to the AIO cpu cooler for power.

Once you go past 8 fans is when you will need to start adding more hardware such as the second LNC.

Then when you go past 12 fans things will get a bit more tricky. You can only power 12 fans (with fan splitters on each port) on a commander pro (CP). So you will need to start powering any additional fans with the MB fan headers or a second CP. Then RGB wise, you will need a 3rd LNC. this can get pluged into a new CP or into the motherboard if you have any open USB headers. If you need more USB headers you can get a USB header hub for fairly cheap.

Ali Haidar Ahmad : The most detailed to the point explanation on the net for the Corsair Lighting system. Thanks a lot !
Matsuo : Honestly, you couldn't have done a better job on explaining this, the video and information is perfect, no BS, straight to the point. 10/10
evilaj2010 : Holy crap this is exactly what I needed! As someone who wants to build his first gaming pc with 12 fans, I felt intimidated with the fans but this video will help a ton. Thanks you so much!
Stains : Thanks, Dave. This is the most detailed and informative video I've found to "baby step" one through the setup. And now that signalRGB by Whirlwind FX gives you the ability to run all of your RGB through one platform (bye-bye iCue, Razer chroma, etc.), this part of life got that much easier!! P.S. Still use iCue for fan speeds.
Larry M : Amazing man. You just saved me from such a headache for someone that’s not a computer builder pro. You made this process so easy to understand. Thank you
